MODE OF WORSHIP
Jesus did not come to establish religion, but true worship of God – John 4:20-25.
20. Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.” 21. “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
25. The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”
John 4: 20-25
In the above passage, one could see that True worshippers of God will worship in spirit and truth
- God is Spirit and whoever will worship him must be through spirit linkage of the intuition
- Jesus is the Truth – Jesus saith unto him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)
For any worship of God to be accepted, the worshipper must have gotten a rebirth through the spirit – “13. which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” [John 1:13] In John 3:3 – Jesus answered him “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” In essence, the worshipper must be a child of God, who has the Spirit of Christ & God which is the turth dwelling in him. The person must also be led by the Holy Spirit. Otherwise the worship will be tantarmount to mere activity out of flesh.
For any time we worship., it must be initiated by the Spirit or else it will be a mere fleshly activity. Programs, celebrations and other church activities that are not led by the spirit is just a religious activity and not true worship of God.
